WESTFIELD IN., -- The Village Farms, Inc., announced that it will begin connecting local businesses and VF residents through a new feature called the "VF Merchant Directory" on its website at www.thevillagefarms.com . Until now, the options for Village Farms residents seeking online information about local Carmel and Westfield businesses had been limited to national online "yellow pages"; search engines or printed phone books and northside directories.

"When looking to do business with a local merchant, it would be ideal to have a thorough understanding of service and/or product quality based on their track record here in our Village Farms community," said Mike Swanton, co-founder of the Village Farms website concept. Roofing contractors, plumbers, handyman services, auto repair shops and the like can be referenced. "We're giving VF residents the ability to rate and review these local businesses so their fellow Village Farms neighbors will benefit from their experiences."
All Carmel/Westfield retail businesses are offered free basic listings with logos. Soon, TheVillageFarms.com will be offering a variety of monthly and annual merchant sponsorship packages that can be tailored to meet local marketing needs. The sign-up process is easy. All potential advertisers need to do is to log-on to thevillagefarms.com and click on the VF Merchant Directory on the main menu, select the market they want to be listed under, then list their business contact information/logo and submit it. Their logo and information will then be rotated on the Village Farms mainpage for a period of time. Then, Village Farms residents who end up doing business with these companies can then rate their experience for all VF residents to see. Similar to an "Ang--- List" type service.
TheVillageFarms.com was started in June of 2006 by The Village Farms Inc. (empowered by webmaster Dan Shaffer) for and by VF residents that saw a gap that needed to be filled -- providing an online connection for the vast VF community. TheVillageFarms.com consists of message boards, local events calendar, breaking local news stories, club pages for local VF groups, weather, classifieds and more.
