In cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration and the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Town of Westfield held a public hearing at our Village Farms Clubhouse June 27th regarding the extension of the Monon Trail from 146th Street to 156th Street. Over 50 area residents attended along with several Town of Westfield Officials including Bob Horkay and Andy Cook. Many thanks to our Westfield Washington Trustee (and Village Farms resident) David Gill for helping set up this meeting.
The purpose of this public hearing was to explain the project and receive comments. Several residents (12 of them) got up to express their comments on the proposed plans. Most residents were concerned about the proposed trailhead at Greyhound Pass just East of Susan Court on the Eastern most edge of The Village Farms. Speeding on this roadway; traffic concerns; visibility issues; parking concerns on Greyhound Pass if/when the trailheads 16 spaces were full; area children walking and riding bikes on busy Greyhound Pass could pose a safety issue; loss of privacy and loitering issues in a residential area were just some of the comments recorded.
If you were not able to attend this meeting, and you would like to enter your comments, you still have time to enter your comments by mailing them to Butler, Fairman and Seufert, Inc. (8450 Westfield Boulevard Suite 300 Indianapolis, IN 46240) within the next two weeks. All written comments postmarked by July 11, 2007 will become part of the transcript and will be addressed just as will the verbal comments presented at the recorded meeting. You may also email your comments to Ryan Scott with Butler, Fairman, and Seufert, Inc at
